On March 24, 2026, Octopus Energy Group, a global clean energy and technology business driving the affordable, green energy system of the future, will cement its expansion in the U.S. by acquiring a majority stake in Uplight, a leading provider of customer engagement and flexibility management solutions that rapidly transform customer participation into dependable grid capacity. The deal is made in partnership with Schneider Electric, a global energy technology leader trusted by utilities worldwide, which will remain as a significant minority partner. On February 05, 2026, Zscaler, a leader in cloud security, announced it has acquired SquareX, to further extend Zero Trust capabilities into the browser for the AI era. This acquisition will help redefine browser security, allowing organizations to embed lightweight extensions into any browser, providing increased security, and eliminating the need for third-party browsers. Trump Administration Issues Executive Order on National AI Policy and Deregulation
On December 11, 2025, the White House issued an Executive Order (EO), “Ensuring a National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence,” that establishes a new federal policy on artificial intelligence (AI). The EO states that it is “the policy of the United States to sustain and enhance the United States’ global AI dominance through a minimally burdensome national policy framework for AI.” The EO asserts that leadership in AI is critical to U.S. national and economic security and dominance and that “AI companies must be free to innovate without cumbersome regulation.” To accomplish this, the EO seeks to challenge “onerous” state AI laws through various federal actions.

Wilson Sonsini Advises d-Matrix on Oversubscribed $275 Million Series C Funding
On November 12, 2025, d-Matrix, a pioneer in generative AI inference compute for data centers, announced an oversubscribed $275 million in Series C funding, valuing the company at $2 billion and bringing the total raised to date to $450 million. The funding is co-led by a global consortium that includes Bullhound Capital, Triatomic Capital, and Temasek. The round also includes new participation from the Qatar Investment Authority and EDBI, alongside follow-on participation from M12 (Microsoft’s venture fund), Nautilus Venture Partners, Industry Ventures, and Mirae Asset.
