About Our Los Angeles Office

Wilson Sonsini’s Los Angeles office, located in the city’s vibrant Arts District, reflects the dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit of its neighborhood and our law firm. Led by acclaimed trial lawyer Luis Li, the office serves as a hub for the firm’s practices in Complex Litigation (co-chaired by Melissa Mills and Mark Yohalem) and Appeals (co-chaired by Fred Rowley). Collectively, the office’s eight litigation partners have first-chaired over 100 trials and argued over 100 appeals, often in high-stakes matters with hundreds of millions or billions of dollars in dispute. Five of these partners were Assistant U.S. Attorneys (with Christopher Chiou having served as the acting U.S. Attorney for Nevada and Melissa Mills also having prosecuted war crimes at The Hague), and three are members of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. Chambers USA ranks them among the best in the country, describing them as “spectacular in court with a limitless pool of skills” (Luis Li), “brilliant, rigorous, and dedicated” (Fred Rowley), and “a fantastic trial lawyer, a brilliant appellate lawyer, and one of the smartest people in the business” (Mark Yohalem). All have received numerous awards for both their litigation successes and public service.

Our Los Angeles litigators work on cases spanning all industries in courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court. These cases—often high-stakes class actions—present cutting-edge technology issues involving artificial intelligence, privacy, intellectual property, and trade secrets, as well as claims based in securities, product liability, and negligence law. The clients we serve in these cases range from start-ups to blue-chip companies to key individual stakeholders. In addition, we represent a range of clients in high-impact pro bono matters, including Ariel Anaba’s groundbreaking litigation against the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Beyond litigation, the Los Angeles office handles internal investigations, crisis counseling, antitrust and regulatory matters, and general corporate counseling. Our lawyers have helped companies and individuals navigate significant risks to avoid litigation altogether.
