Bryan Poellot is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati where he specializes in national security, international trade, and foreign investment law. He advises clients on matters pertaining to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), export controls promulgated by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), tariff policies directed by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), and import rules and regulations under the purview of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Bryan assists companies in navigating foreign investment review processes; securing government approvals for the export of products, software, and technology; maintaining compliance with regulations related to foreign investment and international trade; and preparing submissions to government regulators. He also counsels clients on complex import compliance matters, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, duty assessment, customs valuation, and country of origin determination. He regularly assists clients with designing and implementing trade compliance policies and procedures, evaluating the tariff impacts of various supply chain strategies, and responding to CBP inquiries and enforcement actions. He is a licensed U.S. customs broker.
In law school, Bryan served as an executive editor on the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and as staff on the Harvard International Law Journal. He externed for the Honorable Ryan D. Nelson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked as a student attorney in the Legal Services Center’s Tax Litigation Clinic.
Before becoming an attorney, Bryan gained valuable trade compliance experience working in-house at leading technology companies in the San Francisco Bay Area, including the export compliance team at Google and the global trade compliance team at Tesla.
Bryan is practicing virtually in New Hampshire. He is admitted in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Bryan is not admitted in New Hampshire and therefore not authorized to practice law in New Hampshire.
