Following Zillow’s victory over Compass's preliminary injunction (PI) motion on all claims on February 6, 2026, Compass voluntarily dismissed its antitrust lawsuit against Zillow on March 18, 2026.
Real estate brokerage Compass originally sued in June 2025, alleging that Zillow restrained competition in the “online home search” market by (1) conspiring to boycott Compass’s for-sale home listings and (2) monopolizing home search with Zillow’s Listing Access Standards (Standards). Compass filed a PI shortly thereafter to prevent Zillow from implementing the Standards during the litigation.
Following significant expedited discovery and a four-day evidentiary hearing, Judge Jeannette A. Vargas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York denied the PI and found that Compass failed to show a likelihood of success on all of its antitrust claims.
The Wilson Sonsini team representing Zillow in the matter included Beau Buffier, Bonnie Lau, Eric Tuttle, Nick Sidney, Lindsey Wright, Cassie Leigh Black, Robin Smith, Will Shepherd, Michael McLaughlin, Ben Allen, Matthew Donohue, Rachel Burke, Kelsey Curtis Catina, Lauren Gallagher, Michael Kutz, Evan Moore, Adrian Lee, Aaron Katz, Anthony Geritano, Shea Henneman, Candida Malferrari, Naomi Pierce, Jocelyn Rodriguez, and Melisa Desperak.
