Randy co-founded the firm's energy and climate solutions practice and continues to co-lead the firm’s practice. He is a frequent speaker at prominent industry events at venues including Los Alamos National Laboratory, MIT, National Laboratory of the Rockies, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and University of Chicago.

Randy is a sought-after advisor to companies and regularly advises executive teams and boards of directors on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance responsibilities, securities law compliance, and intellectual property and trade secret matters. In addition, Randy frequently advises entrepreneurs and executives at all stages on complex financing and strategic corporate transactions, including joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to his legal career, Randy held finance positions at GE Capital and Wells Fargo Bank.

Randy also serves on the boards of directors of the Wilson Sonsini Foundation, a philanthropic vehicle that supports charitable organizations and causes, and Venturewell, a nonprofit organization that provides innovators with support, training, and access to networks and resources to solve the world’s most difficult problems.

On February 4, 2026, Lunar Energy, the leader in integrated home battery systems and Virtual Power Plant software, announced it raised $102 million in an oversubscribed Series D round led by B Capital and Prelude Ventures. This round follows a previously unannounced Series C financing of $130 million led by Activate Capital, resulting in a total of $232 million in new funding.
