Aren Balabanian is Of Counsel in the employment and trade secret group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Aren regularly counsels employers regarding all aspects of the employment relationship, including terminations and reductions in force, enforceability of covenants not to compete, worker classification, employment contracts, hiring practices, employment policies, workplace investigations, and leave laws. He also advises employers on trade secret misappropriation issues, including employee raiding and solicitation matters. In addition, Aren counsels clients with respect to preventive measures designed to minimize the risks associated with hiring competitors' employees or addressing those employees who leave to join a competitor. He also regularly negotiates and drafts employment, release, and confidentiality agreements, and he has reviewed and drafted numerous employment policies.

Aren also advises and represents clients in structuring corporate transactions to minimize employment-related risks and maximize the value of the deal from an employment perspective. His merger and acquisition practice consists of representing both buyers and sellers in large and small transactions, including cross-border and other complex deals. His practice includes mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, asset purchases, and financings.

Aren also represents employers in federal and state court and before administrative agencies in connection with discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and various other types of employment law matters.

Firm Advises Edgewise Therapeutics on Its Sale of Sevasemten for up to $2.65 Billion
On June 1, 2026, Edgewise Therapeutics, a leading muscle disease biopharmaceutical company, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement under which Servier, an independent international pharmaceutical group governed by a foundation, will acquire sevasemten, an orally administered fast skeletal myosin inhibitor in late-stage clinical trials in Becker and Duchenne muscular dystrophies, and Edgewise's muscular dystrophy business for $1.55 billion in upfront cash consideration and up to $1.1 billion in additional milestone payments, for aggregate potential consideration of up to $2.65 billion.
