NEW YORK, NY – October 22, 2025 – Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, today announced that Stanford (Stan) Renas has joined the firm’s Energy and Climate Solutions (ECS) practice as a partner in New York. Renas brings nearly three decades of experience advising financial institutions, energy companies, and multinational corporations on complex structured finance, project finance, derivatives, and trade finance transactions.

“The accelerating energy transition has increased demand for sophisticated legal and financial guidance,” said Doug Clark, managing partner at Wilson Sonsini. “Stan’s arrival further strengthens our ability to help clients navigate this evolving landscape. With deep experience in structured finance, derivatives, and commodities—and trusted relationships across the industry—he will be a go-to resource for clients who are increasingly seeking bespoke monetization strategies and innovative approaches to strategic growth.”

Renas joins Wilson Sonsini from Katten Muchin Rosenman, where he advised clients across the energy, oil and gas, and metals sectors on the full lifecycle of financial transactions—from structuring and negotiation through execution. His work includes borrowing base facilities, renewable energy projects, intermediation facilities, tolling structures, and structured commodity transactions. He also represents a diverse client base in the securitization and repackaging of assets and is widely recognized in the collateralized loan obligation (CLO) market for his command across broadly syndicated and middle-market structures.

Renas further counsels financial institutions, insurance companies, derivatives dealers, and end users on a broad spectrum of structured products, including commodity swaps, total return instruments, credit derivatives, and repo contracts. He has extensive experience in domestic and cross-border receivables securitizations, asset-based finance, factoring, supply chain and vendor finance, and trade finance—frequently helping clients design tailored monetization strategies that unlock value.

“I’m excited to join Wilson Sonsini, a firm that played a key role in establishing the structure now standard for financing U.S. renewable energy projects,” said Renas. “I look forward to helping clients with creative solutions that meet their unique needs—leveraging the firm’s diverse capabilities and deep industry insight to execute high-value financings that advance the transformation of the energy sector.”

Renas has been recognized by Chambers, The Legal 500, and Law360, and he is a recipient of the Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University.
