Firm Celebrates Pro Bono and Community Service Efforts at its 2018 "WSGR Gives" Events
News Articles
August 10, 2018

In June and July 2018, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati held a series of "Wilson Sonsini Gives" events across its offices to celebrate the firm's pro bono and community service programs and to honor attorneys and staff who have made significant contributions to these programs.

As part of the celebrations, the firm honored several individuals from various offices with the following awards:

John Wilson Award: This award honors the memory of Wilson Sonsini co-founder John Arnot Wilson, who was actively involved in civic and nonprofit organizations. It recognizes attorneys who have consistently upheld John Wilson's commitment to pursue excellence in the practice of law while at the same time serving the community, demonstrated a sustained commitment to the firm's pro bono clients, and handled significant responsibility on pro bono matters. In addition, the firm honored selected staff members who provided outstanding service for pro bono clients.

Pro Bono Service Award: This award recognizes attorneys and staff who have made significant contributions to the firm's pro bono program over the past year. These individuals are critical to the firm's efforts to meet the legal needs of low-income individuals and nonprofit organizations in the community.

Community Service Award: This award recognizes attorneys and staff at the firm who have made significant contributions to the firm's community service program over the past year. It honors individuals who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to the firm's community service program, both in terms of their active participation in the firm's community service activities and leadership in the firm's community service efforts.

In addition, during the firm's Palo Alto awards reception, a special John Wilson Legacy Award was also presented to retired member, Harry Bremond, for his decades of trailblazing service and leadership with respect to both firm pro bono and community service initiatives, and as an eminent member of the Legal community in general.

Several offices also invited representatives of local nonprofit partners to speak at the events, including Sanctuary for Families, Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area, and La Casa de las Madres.
