On September 7, 2023, AI research lab Imbue—formerly known as Generally Intelligent—announced that it has raised $200 million in a Series B funding round that values the company at over $1 billion. The round included participation from Astera Institute, NVIDIA, Cruise CEO Kyle Vogt, Norton co-founder Simon Last, and others. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised Imbue on the transaction.
According to the Imbue blog post announcing the financing, “This latest funding will accelerate our development of AI systems that can reason and code, so they can help us accomplish larger goals in the world.”
As part of the transaction, the company renamed itself as Imbue to “better reflect [its] focus on imbuing computers with intelligence and human values. [It aims] to rekindle the dream of the personal computer—for computers to be truly intelligent tools that empower us, giving us freedom, dignity, and agency to do the things we love.”
The Wilson Sonsini team that advised Imbue on the financing included Yokum Taku, Avi Emanuel, Barath Chari, Kimberley Biagioli, Jon Hatcher, Khalil Nobles, and Jing Zhang.
