Avi Emanuel is a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he practices general corporate and securities law, specializing in the representation of early- and mid-stage companies in fields like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. For nearly a decade, Avi has advised start-up companies in a variety of matters, including entity formation, venture financing, corporate governance, employment matters, and securities law compliance. In addition, Avi has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, and has also participated in several IPO transactions. He works closely with founders, executives, and boards of directors as a trusted advisor, combining his legal insight and experience with practical business judgment and knowledge of his clients’ needs.

Prior to joining the firm, Avi was a Teach For America corps member. He also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Ruben Castillo of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Avi is practicing virtually in Illinois, where he is licensed. He is also licensed in California.

On June 25, 2026, Sail Research, an infrastructure company purpose-built for long-horizon AI agents, announced it has raised $80 million in seed and Series A funding at a $450 million valuation. The Series A was led by Kleiner Perkins, and the seed round was led by Sequoia. Other participating investors included Redpoint Ventures, Theory Ventures, Vine Ventures, CRV, A*, and Abstract Ventures, in addition to angel investors, including John Hennessy, chairman of Alphabet Inc., Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Intel, and Tri Dao, Chief Scientist at Together AI.
