Tyler Bird is an associate in the San Diego office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he focuses on patent prosecution and strategic intellectual property counseling in a wide range of technical fields including medical devices, climate engineering, fusion energy, material science, and other engineering fields. His expertise includes patent strategy, patent prosecution, and patent diligence–including freedom-to-operate analyses–for financings, mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings. He provides legal counseling to companies at various stages of growth, from pre-financing start-ups to public companies.

During law school, Tyler advised university and local start-up clients through Duke Law’s Start-Up Ventures Clinic while earning his joint J.D./LL.M. degree in Law & Entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining the firm, Tyler conducted material science research at the Applied Superconductivity Center of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.

On March 21, 2024, LENZ Therapeutics, Inc., a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing the first aceclidine-based eye drop that has been shown to improve near vision in people with presbyopia, announced the completion of its previously announced merger with Graphite Bio, Inc. The new combined company will operate under the name LENZ Therapeutics, Inc. and will commence trading on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol “LENZ” on March 22, 2024.
