Dr. Pengshu Fang is a patent agent in the Salt Lake City office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he focuses on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors. He leverages a strong scientific background to assist clients in protecting innovations across a range of technologies, including molecular biology, genetics, and cancer biology.
Prior to joining the firm, Pengshu earned his Ph.D. in oncological sciences from the University of Utah's Huntsman Cancer Institute. His doctoral research in the lab of Dr. Eric Snyder centered on the transcriptional regulation of cell identity in pancreatic cancer. As part of this work, he employed CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) to target alternative promoters of a transcription factor, investigating the downstream effects on gene expression and DNA binding.
Before graduate school, Pengshu gained several years of hands-on experience in clinical diagnostics, working in both a women's health laboratory and a children’s hospital. His work included extensive involvement in genetic testing, further strengthening his foundation in molecular biology and clinical applications.
