Michael Barclay retired as a partner from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in 2010.

After joining the firm in 1993, Michael specialized in the fields of patent and intellectual property litigation, with a particular focus on electronics-related areas. He has litigated patent, trade secret, copyright, and trademark cases in a wide variety of fields, including semiconductors, computer software, graphics, disk drives, cable TV descramblers, ink jet printers, photocopier sorters, and "bootleg" records. Among other cases, he worked on the successful First Circuit and Supreme Court appeal in Lotus v. Borland. Beyond litigation, he provided clients with pre-litigation counseling and opinions in intellectual property matters.

Among other activities, he served for five years as a judge pro tem in the small claims division of the Los Angeles Municipal Court and, before entering the legal field, was an engineer at Hughes Aircraft and Intel Corporation. He presently serves as an ENE evaluator for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
