Marie Catherine Ducharme is an associate in the privacy and cybersecurity practice of the Brussels office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

She assists clients on contentious and non-contentious matters related to French and EU digital regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the ePrivacy Directive, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act, the Data Act, the Data Governance Act, and the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD 2), with a focus on complex data protection litigation.

Marie Catherine has extensive experience assisting and advising clients with:

  • Complex data protection litigation before the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and the French Administrative Supreme Court (Conseil d’état)
  • Dawn raids conducted by data protection authorities
  • Responding to regulatory investigations from data protection authorities and handling data subjects requests and complaints
  • Preparing risk assessments, compliance plans and drafting policies for sensitive projects, including projects involving AI
  • Managing data breaches and cybersecurity incidents
  • International transfers of personal data, including the approval of binding corporate rules (BCRs)
  • Internal investigations involving multiple jurisdictions
  • Assessing legislative proposals and preparing for upcoming regulations

Marie Catherine also assists clients in the drafting and negotiation of various IT agreements (outsourcing, licensing, systems integration, cloud services, etc.). She specializes in complex IT agreements.

She advises clients across a wide range of industries including technology, adtech, financial services, luxury, hospitality, automotive, public transportation, and retail and consumer goods.

Marie Catherine is pragmatic, solution-oriented, and attentive to her clients’ needs and style. She has been recognized as a rising star in the IT and Internet sector by Legal 500.

Prior to joining the firm, Marie Catherine worked in the Paris office of Baker McKenzie.
