Lauren represents the world’s leading internet services in connection with a range of sensitive and cutting-edge litigation and regulatory matters. She recently defended YouTube and Google as trial counsel in the landmark social media addiction bellwether trial in Los Angeles.

Over the past decade, Lauren has played a central role in litigating some of the most significant cases affecting intermediary liability for hosting and moderating content online, including Prager University v. Google, Gonzalez v. Google, Taamneh v. Twitter, and NetChoice v. Moody.

She has significant experience managing all phases of litigation in state and federal courts around the country—from trial to the U.S. Supreme Court. Lauren regularly advises clients on issues related to product design, product marketing, and general operations, including matters relating to content hosting, removal, and filtering, as well as decisions about data use and management. She also regularly advises clients regarding risks arising from the operation of generative AI chatbots.

Lauren is lead counsel for Google and YouTube in a range of cases attacking their content-moderation practices on a variety of grounds. She has secured numerous, precedent-setting victories in cases involving Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, the First Amendment, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), the Lanham Act, federal and state anti-discrimination laws, the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), the Wiretap Act (ECPA), and the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Lauren has authored numerous amicus briefs in the federal courts of appeal and in the U.S. Supreme Court, including on behalf of public interest groups in cases addressing important legal and policy issues related to free speech, technology, privacy, and intellectual property (e.g., Woodhull Freedom Foundation v. United States; United States v. Microsoft; West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency; Carolyn Jewel, et al., v. National Security Agency, et al.; Malwarebytes, Inc. v. Enigma Software Group USA, LLC; and Edgar v. Ratcliffe).

Prior to joining the firm, Lauren clerked for the Honorable Mary H. Murguia of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for the Honorable William F.
