Prior to joining the firm, Julia served as senior litigation counsel in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she was lead trial counsel in a major Section 2 conduct case. Her recent government service complements her extensive private practice, equipping her with a unique perspective on enforcement and defense strategies.
An accomplished trial lawyer, Julia has led numerous civil and criminal cases in state and federal courts nationwide and before arbitration panels domestically and abroad. She has argued before the Second, Fifth, and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeal and has represented clients in multibillion-dollar, multi-district antitrust, securities, bankruptcy, and product liability cases.
Beyond her commercial practice, Julia is deeply committed to pro bono work, focusing on death penalty cases and the rights of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
Before joining the Department of Justice, Julia was a partner in the New York and Washington, D.C., offices of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where she maintained a robust litigation practice focused on complex commercial and antitrust matters. She previously clerked for the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
