James Newhouse is an associate in the Seattle office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he is part of the firm’s energy and climate solutions practice. His practice focuses on renewable energy project development, project finance, project M&A, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions. James regularly assists clients in developing and negotiating innovative transaction structures in the energy sector, including in power purchase agreements, virtual power purchase agreements, tolling agreements, and agreements to deploy EV charging infrastructure. Additionally, James represents both buyers and sellers in project M&A transactions, for projects at all stages of development, from pre-NTP to operating assets.
Before law school, James worked in business development at EVgo, where he focused on fleet electrification and automaker partnership development. While at EVgo, he helped form a first-of-its-kind EV charging partnership to build a dedicated fast-charging network for rideshare drivers. Prior to working at EVgo, James worked at L.E.K. Consulting, where he provided strategic advice to corporations and prospective investors interested in a variety of industrial end markets.
