David has represented a host of well-known technology and life sciences companies, as well as many individual defendants. He has particular experience in the semiconductor, gaming, computer hardware and software, and telecommunications fields. He also frequently represented foreign-based clients, including Chinese firms. His practice has included securities class action defense, corporate control litigation, patent infringement claims, generics ANDA litigation, trade secret claims, and complex commercial lawsuits. David has tried cases in both the federal and state courts of California; the federal courts of Virginia, Delaware, and the District of Columbia; and the International Trade Commission. He has also represented clients in many arbitrations, both domestic and international. Additionally, David frequently practiced before the Securities Exchange Commission and other state and federal agencies. In one trial, in which David obtained a defense verdict on a $100 million corporate opportunity claim, the trial judge remarked on the record, "Mr. Steuer, I thought your handling of the trial, your mastery of the documents, your questioning of the witnesses was as superb as I've seen."

In 1986, David became an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and was elected a partner of the firm in 1989. From 1982 to 1983, David clerked for the Honorable Herbert Y.C. Choy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Following his clerkship, he worked as an associate with Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C.
