On October 29, 2020, a pro bono team from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati won U-visa nonimmigrant status for Jorge Gonzalez (not his real name).
Jorge has lived in California since 2002. In 2013, he was a victim of a horrific assault by multiple men that left him unconscious. He suffered severe physical injuries, including damage to his eyes, requiring months of surgery and recovery.
Jorge has now gained U-visa status, which would allow him to receive employment authorization from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and remain in the United States. He is grateful to the team at Wilson Sonsini that represented him during this process, including Luke Liss, Chidera Anyanwu, Rodolfo Munoz, Abenet Gebretsadik, and Delilah Crim.
