On January 31, 2025, Wilson Sonsini partners Beau Buffier and Maureen Ohlhausen, along with two matters led by the firm, were named to the shortlist for Global Competition Review’s 2025 GCR Awards, which recognizes the world’s leading antitrust lawyers, economists, and enforcers and the most significant cases from 2024. Winners will be announced at GCR’s 15th Annual Awards Ceremony on April 1 in Washington, D.C.
Beau Buffier has been named a “Dealmaker of the Year” finalist and Maureen Ohlhausen has been named the among the finalists for “Lawyer of the Year.”
Wilson Sonsini represented Hawaiian Airlines in its recently completed acquisition by Alaska Airlines. The firm’s role as lead legal advisor to Hawaiian showcased the strength of the firm’s integrated offerings, including its leading antitrust and public company M&A practices. This case has been shortlisted for the “Merger Control Matter of the Year (Americas)” category.
In addition, the firm played a crucial role in helping Run:ai Labs secure unconditional clearance from the European Commission (EC) for its acquisition by NVIDIA. The EC concluded that the transaction would not pose any competition concerns in the European Economic Area (EEA). This matter has been shortlisted for the “Merger Control Matter of the Year (Europe)” category.
