During the 2019 holiday season, hundreds of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati employees participated in a variety of firmwide giving initiatives to benefit those in need. These initiatives included a firmwide holiday matching program and numerous adopt-a-family and gift-drive efforts, supporting children and families, seniors, and at-risk youth.
The firmwide holiday matching program, which the Wilson Sonsini Foundation kicked off on November 25, 2019, rounded up nearly $170,000 in contributions to support local nonprofits fighting food insecurity and Doctors Without Borders, which provides international disaster relief throughout the world. The Wilson Sonsini Foundation contributed $99,250 and more than $70,700 was contributed by employees to support these organizations, which included Doctors Without Borders, Capital Area Food Bank (Washington, D.C.), Central Texas Food Bank (Austin), City Harvest (New York), Food Bank of Delaware (Wilmington), Greater Boston Food Bank, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, San Diego Food Bank, San Francisco Food Bank, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, and University District Food Bank (Seattle).
In addition to the above firmwide giving initiatives, through the contributions of the Palo Alto office, the Human Investment Project (HIP) Housing adopt-a-family program served more than 24 families and 134 seniors, while the Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence gift-drive program served hundreds of survivors of domestic violence and their children. Meanwhile, the firm's Austin office adopted four families through Refugee Services of Texas holiday program and three seniors through Meals on Wheels Central Texas; the Boston office adopted 20 children in partnership with Youth Villages; the Brussels office collected food to benefit the homeless served by Les Samaritains’ shoe box initiative; the Los Angeles office held a gift drive to benefit children and their mothers served by the Alexandria House's transitional home; and the New York office held a toy drive to benefit the children and their mothers served by Sanctuary for Families. The San Diego office adopted six military families in partnership with Spirit of Sharing; the San Francisco purchased gifts and prepared 16 holiday gift boxes for women served through the La Casa de las Madres holiday program for domestic violence survivors; the SOMA office held a gift drive to serve at-risk youth served by Larkin Street Youth Services; the Seattle office served 15 children and 15 seniors through programs sponsored by the Mary's Place- Seattle and Sound Generations in Seattle; the Washington, D.C., office adopted three families through the Children's Law Center; and the Delaware offices adopted three families plus six additional children through Human Services Council's adopt-a-family program.
Rounding out the firm’s holiday giving efforts, the Wilson Sonsini Foundation also made numerous donations to nonprofit organizations near several of the firm's offices, contributing a total of $25,500 to 15 different nonprofits. Specifically, donations were made to Ecumenical Hunger Program, HIP Housing, and Next Door in Silicon Valley; Meals on Wheels Central Texas and Dress for Success in Austin; Youth Villages in Boston; Alexandria House in Los Angeles; Sanctuary for Families in New York; Spirit of Sharing in San Diego; La Casa de las Madres and Larkin Street Youth Services in San Francisco; Mary's Place and Sound Generations in Seattle; the Children's Law Center in Washington, D.C; the Human Services Council near Wilmington; and Save the Children Federation. The firm also made a donation to Les Samaritains in Brussels.
