The National Law Journal recently selected Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati partner and antitrust practice co-chair Susan Creighton as an "Outstanding Women Lawyer." The publication reviewed hundreds of nominations to select 75 of the "most accomplished female attorneys working in the legal professional today."
The accompanying profile of Susan recognizes both her work reviewing high-profile mergers while heading up the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC's) Bureau of Competition and the successful results she has obtained for clients at WSGR. With respect to the latter, the profile highlights Susan's authorship of a white paper for Netscape that helped trigger a Department of Justice lawsuit alleging illegal monopolization by Microsoft, as well as her work on behalf of Google to persuade the FTC to close an investigation into the company's business practices without taking action.
Among the factors considered in determining the honorees were the development of successful practices, the attainment of professional leadership roles, performance in significant cases, and influence and stature in the public sector. Those selected represent excellence in private practice, corporate counsel work, public interest law, legal education, and the judiciary.
