On June 2, 2025, Wilson Sonsini partners Matt Bresnahan and Marty Waters were named to San Diego Business Journal's 2025 “Leaders of Influence in the Life Sciences” special edition, which recognizes industry leaders in the life sciences and highlights their careers and accomplishments.

Matt Bresnahan is vice chair of the firm’s industry-leading life sciences patent practice, with nearly two decades of experience. Matt and his team have advised over 75 VC-backed and public life sciences companies on IP and patent matters, focusing on biotech company building.

Marty Waters is a member of the board of directors at Wilson Sonsini and moved to San Diego to open and establish the firm’s San Diego office in 2004. Since then, Marty has continued to foster the growth of local life sciences companies, guiding them through financings, strategic transactions, and public offerings.
