On September 21, 2022, Wilson Sonsini litigation partner Luis Li was named one of 2022's "Top 100 Lawyers" by the Daily Journal. The list celebrates leading lawyers in California who are conducting cutting-edge legal work and have made a significant impact in the industry.

The publication highlights Luis' role in representing Vanessa Bryant in her privacy and federal civil rights suit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. In August, the jury unanimously determined the department was liable for inappropriate sharing of photos from the scene from the 2020 helicopter crash that killed her husband, Kobe Bryant, and daughter, Gianna. The jury awarded Vanessa Bryant $15 million.

"The case sets a legal precedent for future privacy cases for public figures," the long-time litigator said. In 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill that made it illegal for first responders to share graphic crime scene photos outside of official law enforcement purposes.
