On October 28, 2025, GSK and Empirico, a clinical-stage biotechnology company with leading capabilities in human genetics-driven target discovery and siRNA medicines, announced that they have entered into a worldwide exclusive license agreement for EMP-012, a highly selective first- and potentially best-in-class siRNA, a type of oligonucleotide. EMP-012 addresses a novel therapeutic target and is currently in a Phase 1 trial for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), with the potential for expansion into other inflammatory respiratory diseases. Wilson Sonsini Advises Galvanize Therapeutics on $100 Million Series C Financing
On September 3, 2025, Galvanize Therapeutics, Inc., a commercial-stage medical technology company pioneering pulsed electric field (PEF) therapies for oncology and chronic lung disease, announced that it has raised $100 million in an oversubscribed Series C financing. The round was led by Sofinnova Partners, with participation from a global syndicate of top-tier investors including Norwest Venture Partners, Elevage Medical Technologies, Ally Bridge Group, Perceptive Xontogeny Venture Fund, Janus Henderson Investors, and Longaeva. Existing investors Fidelity Management & Research Company, T. Rowe Price, Gilmartin Capital, Intuitive Surgical, and Apple Tree Partners (ATP), the company's founding investor, also participated in the round. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised Galvanize on the transaction. The proceeds from the financing will be used to expand the company's commercial footprint and advance its clinical and development activities related to Aliya® PEF in solid tumors and RheOx® therapy for chronic bronchitis.

Wilson Sonsini Advises SpectraWAVE on $50 Million Series B Financing
On September 11, 2024, SpectraWAVE, Inc., a medical imaging company focused on improving the treatment and outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD), announced a $50 million Series B funding round. The round was led by Johnson & Johnson Innovation - JJDC, Inc. and joined by S3 Ventures, Lumira Ventures, SV Health Investors, Deerfield Management, NovaVenture, and Heartwork Capital. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised SpectraWAVE on the transaction.

The funding round will be used to advance commercial expansion and product additions to the company’s 510k-cleared HyperVue™ Imaging System. HyperVue is the first intravascular imaging technology to combine two important imaging technologies, DeepOCT and NIRS, while optimizing for image quality and procedural efficiency in the cath lab, including no-flush catheter prep, fast and long pullbacks designed to reduce and remove the use of contrast, and the most comprehensive AI-driven workflow and image analysis offering.

On March 19, 2024, Tempo Therapeutics, a leading innovator in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, announced the completion of a $12 million Series A equity financing round, led by Galaxy-Sirius Partners and Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJDC). Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has represented Tempo Therapeutics since its inception as a spinout from UCLA and currently represents the company on all legal matters.

Wilson Sonsini Advises DermBiont on $35.2 Million Series B Financing
On October 24, 2023, DermBiont, a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing targeted topical therapeutics for the treatment of dermatological indications, announced a $35.2 million Series B financing. The financing was led by new institutional investor Double Point Ventures, and included continued support from Viking Global Investors, Civilization Ventures, Olive Tree Capital, and others. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati provided IP and corporate counsel to DermBiont in the transaction.

The proceeds from the financing will be used to advance the clinical development of two drugs: SM-020, a topical novel AKT kinase inhibitor for the treatment of seborrheic keratoses (SKs), and SM-030, a topical novel PKC-beta inhibitor for the treatment of melasma and other hyperpigmentation disorders of the skin. They are expected to fund the company through end of its Phase 2 meetings with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which are expected in the second half of 2024 for both programs.

Wilson Sonsini has represented DermBiont on IP matters since the company’s inception, and the patent team that advised on the Series B included Matt Bresnahan, Alicia Umpierre, Dalton Case, and Tiara Wong. On July 27, 2021, Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Aristea Therapeutics, Inc. announced a strategic collaboration to advance the clinical development of RIST4721, an oral CXCR2 antagonist being developed for the treatment of palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP) and other neutrophil-mediated diseases. Wilson Sonsini Advises Ventyx Biosciences on $114 Million Financing
On March 9, 2021, Ventyx Biosciences, a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing a pipeline of immune modulators to treat inflammatory diseases and autoimmune disorders, announced the completion of a $114 million equity financing. The financing was led by venBio Partners alongside investors including Third Point, RTW Investments, Janus Henderson Investors, Wellington Management, OrbiMed, Surveyor Capital (a Citadel company), Farallon Capital, Vivo Capital, Logos Capital, Qiming Venture Partners USA, and Cormorant Asset Management. Founding investor New Science Ventures also participated. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised Ventyx Biosciences on corporate and patent matters related to the transaction.

Ventyx’s internally discovered and wholly owned portfolio of potent and selective small molecule drug candidates targets multiple indications in the immunology space, including gastrointestinal and dermatological diseases. The company’s pipeline combines the clinical-stage programs of three companies founded by Raju Mohan and New Science Ventures: (1) a tissue selective S1P1R modulator for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other indications that was developed by Oppilan Pharma; (2) a selective allosteric TYK2 inhibitor, developed by Ventyx, that is projected to demonstrate high efficacy and therapeutic utility across a broad range of immunological disorders; and (3) the NLRP3 inhibitor program, created by Zomagen. The first candidate of this program will enter the clinic in the second half of this year.  In addition, the company is leveraging its world-class drug discovery platform to advance preclinical programs against other biologically relevant targets involved in difficult-to-treat inflammatory diseases and autoimmune disorders.
