On November 10, 2020, Global Competition Review honored the best in competition enforcement, merger, and cartel defense at the 10th annual GCR Awards. The awards ceremony, which was held virtually, belatedly honored some of the most complex deals and cases from 2019, as well as several of the year’s leading firms and standout individuals. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s antitrust practice was recognized for its role in T-Mobile’s $26 billion acquisition of Sprint and the divestiture of assets to DISH Network, which won the award for “Matter of the Year.” Wilson Sonsini was lead counsel for Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile’s parent company, in the matter.
To determine the winners for each category, Global Competition Review’s readers were invited to vote for the cases, law firms, lawyers, economists, and enforcers they believe excelled in 2019. Only votes from employees of law firms, economic consultancies, government agencies, universities, and competition advocacy organizations were counted.
