On April 1, 2024, for the eighth consecutive year, Wilson Sonsini partner Gary Greenstein was named to Billboard's 2024 "Top Music Lawyers" list. The list is comprised of attorneys guiding superstars and industry-driving companies. This year, these attorneys have much advice to offer on the rise of generative artificial intelligence.

The accompanying profile highlights Gary's work with digital media and entertainment clients focusing on AI, technology transactions, and financial technology. Specifically, the profile notes Gary is representing Google and Stingray before the U.S. Copyright Royalty Board in the Web VI rate-setting proceedings, which will determine streaming royalties for 2026-2030. When asked what he currently deems to be the most pressing issue in the industry, Gary says, “Where is innovation going to come from next, and will the currently constituted music business permit new businesses and ideas to germinate and flourish? You have three major labels and a relatively small number of services responsible for most music consumption.”
