Billboard has named Wilson Sonsini partner Gary Greenstein to its 2026 "Top Music Lawyers" list, an annual recognition honoring the music industry's leading attorneys across areas including talent representation, copyright, licensing, music publishing, streaming, transactions, and litigation. This recognition marks the 10th consecutive year Gary has been named to the prestigious list.
For decades, Gary has advised innovators at the intersection of music, technology, and intellectual property. He counsels digital media and entertainment companies on complex licensing, copyright, royalty, commercial, and regulatory matters, helping clients navigate an industry continually reshaped by technological innovation.
Earlier this year, Gary was part of a Wilson Sonsini team that represented Google in its acquisition of ProducerAI, a platform that enables users to create and refine music using generative artificial intelligence. The transaction underscores Gary's continued work advising clients on cutting-edge technologies that are transforming the music industry.
Before joining Wilson Sonsini, Gary served as the first general counsel of SoundExchange and as vice president of business and legal affairs at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), where he negotiated landmark licensing agreements for webcasters and satellite radio services and managed copyright royalty proceedings.
