Wilson Sonsini partner and former FTC Acting Chairman Maureen Ohlhausen is participating in "The FTC After Trump v. Slaughter," a joint conference of the American Antitrust Institute and the George Washington University Law School's Competition Law Center Competition Law Center. 

Maureen joins fellow panelists on the panel, “Transparency, Accountability, and Institutional Safeguards After Trump v. Slaughter” to examine proposals designed to strengthen transparency, preserve bipartisan participation, and reduce opportunities for abuse following the Supreme Court's decision in Trump v. Slaughter, including public disclosure of White House communications, quorum and minority-Commissioner reforms, procedural safeguards, and structural proposals intended to maintain the Commission's independence and credibility. 

The panel is moderated by Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, the former FTC Commissioner whose removal was at issue in the case, with fellow panelists Andrew I. Gavil (Professor of Law, Howard University School of Law, and former Director, Office of Policy Planning, FTC), Jon Leibowitz (former Chairman, FTC), and Bilal Sayyed (Senior Competition Counsel, Techfreedom, and former Director, Office of Policy Planning, FTC). 

The conference will bring together former Commissioners, academics, former agency officials, and practitioners to evaluate how Congress, the Commission, and the courts can preserve transparency, accountability, institutional integrity, and effective competition enforcement while respecting the Supreme Court's decision.
