Chi-Fei's practice focuses on counseling clients in complex technology and intellectual property matters related to licensing, development, acquisition, use, and commercialization of technology. He has experience with complex technology and intellectual property transactions, including strategic alliances, licensing arrangements, acquisitions and divestures, joint ventures, outsourcing, and technology transfers. He also provides counseling on intellectual property issues related to private equity, mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and other corporate transactions.
Chi-Fei structures, drafts, and negotiates a variety of transactional and commercial agreements and advises a wide range of clients, from start-ups and growth enterprises to Fortune 100 companies. His practice covers numerous industry sectors, including semiconductors, software, e-commerce, internet, telecommunications, digital media, entertainment, online gaming, network security, biotechnology, and petrochemicals. He also regularly represents clients in cross-border transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate in the technology transactions group and corporate departments at leading international law firms in New York and Shanghai, where he represented companies in the semiconductor, software, industrial, telecommunications, financial services, media, and other industries. He also worked previously as technology transactions counsel at General Electric Company.
Chi-Fei brings extensive international experience. He has worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai and routinely advises international clients doing cross-border transactions, primarily focusing on companies and investors from China. He is a native Mandarin Chinese speaker and is fluent in English.
