China Export Controls Update: Be Ready for the New Rules that Became Effective June 29 and Other Recently Implemented Controls

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security has been busy during the pandemic issuing new and expanded export controls. These new rules may have a significant impact on U.S. businesses and foreign entities that do business with entities in China, including but certainly not limited to Huawei. The new controls address the export, reexport, and transfer of U.S. origin products, technology and software to China and other jurisdictions as well as expanding controls on certain foreign produced products based upon U.S. origin technology or software that are sold, reexported, or otherwise transferred to certain companies in China. Please join Wilson Sonsini Partner Josephine Aiello LeBeau, Of Counsel Melissa Mannino, and Counsel Anne Seymour to learn more about these important and significant developments and how they may apply to our company’s business.

Additional topics to be discussed include:

  • New Controls on Certain Foreign Produced Items going to Huawei or its listed affiliates
  • Increased U.S. Government Visibility in to Exports to China - Expanded Export Reporting Requirements
  • Almost all exports to China will require reporting to U.S. Government
  • Broadened Military End-Use and Military End-User Definitions and License Requirements
  • Removal of License Exceptions
  • Preparing for Heightened U.S. Government Enforcement

We hope you will join us.
