Larry Sonsini Named to Advisory Committee of Newly Launched Alliance for Southern California Innovation

On June 22, 2017, serial tech entrepreneur and former California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, working with a group of prominent technology, university, and research institute leaders, announced the formation of the Alliance for Southern California Innovation, a nonprofit established to nurture and accelerate the growth of an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Southern California. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati chairman Larry Sonsini was named to the organization's advisory committee, which will provide strategic counsel on best practices and lessons learned from Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.

In addition to Larry, the advisory committee includes other technology trailblazers, investment experts, and start-up veterans, such as Eric Schmidt, executive chairman of Alphabet Inc.; Jeff Henley, vice chairman of Oracle; Ted Eliopoulos, chief investment officer of CalPERS, and Gene Sykes, managing director at Goldman Sachs.

The Alliance for Southern California Innovation will develop initiatives that encourage technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and top talent to locate to and remain in Southern California, complementing and extending the success of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.
