An increasingly important extension of Silicon Valley's entrepreneurial and venture communities, San Francisco's South of Market area is home to an ever-growing number of innovative enterprises, particularly in the social media, life sciences, and biotech sectors. In June 2012, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati opened its third Bay Area office in SOMA to better serve this thriving entrepreneurial hub, complementing its existing offices in the Financial District and Palo Alto.
In keeping with the local client base, the firm's SOMA attorneys are focused on meeting the legal needs of entrepreneurs and early-stage companies, as well as the angel and venture investors that finance them. In an open and collaborative workspace reflective of the area's unique environment, the office provides advice and representation on a full range of legal and strategic issues vital to young businesses, ranging from financing to the protection of intellectual property, governance to employee compensation, real estate to mergers and acquisitions. Services include seminars, small-group sessions, one-on-one coaching, and "office hours," as well as networking opportunities and on-site business resources.
A core group of partners and associates is based in SOMA, with other attorneys using the office on a rotating basis as appropriate to serve clients' diverse needs and bring to bear the entire institutional experience and resources of the firm.
