WSGR Client Truata Awarded HPE-IAPP Privacy Innovation Award

In November 2018, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati client Truata was honored with the HPE-IAPP Privacy Innovation Award by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), the world's largest information privacy community and resource with more than 32,000 members in over 100 countries. The award recognizes the game-changing service that Truata offers to companies who want to continue to leverage their data to innovate and grow while respecting and safeguarding the privacy of their customers. Founded in early 2018 by Mastercard, which is also a WSGR client, and IBM as an independent company held via a trust structure, Dublin-based Truata was specifically designed to help companies meet the very high threshold for data anonymization under EU data protection law to conduct analytics, while safeguarding privacy and ensuring compliance with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). WSGR assisted Mastercard in the development of Truata since day one, and the firm now represents Truata on various legal matters.

The HPE-IAPP Privacy Innovation Awards honor unique programs and services in global privacy and data protection in the private and public sectors and serve to distinguish organizations that integrate privacy in such a way that elevates its value as both a competitive differentiator and a centerpiece of customer and citizen trust.
