Privacy and Data Protection


Sára Gabriella Hoffman is an associate in the Brussels office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she advises clients on all aspects of European privacy and data protection law, e-commerce, and antitrust law. She is an expert on compliance requirements, encryption standards, and cloud architecture.

Prior to joining the firm, Sára worked in the antitrust, competition, and trade department of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and the regulatory and M&A department of Linklaters. As an articled clerk at the High Court of Berlin, she was externed to an audit company's IT risk and cybersecurity department, the Berlin district attorney's office of cybercrime prosecution, the German Federal Foreign Office's department of cyber foreign policy, and to an international law firm in San Francisco.

Sára holds a Ph.D. in law from Humboldt-University of Berlin and her dissertation examined how cloud services are regulated under U.S. and EU antitrust, competition, and privacy laws. As a Microsoft fellow at Stanford Law School, she studied the technical and legal aspects of setting up data centers and protecting information from a data security perspective. Sára is an adjunct lecturer at Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin. She is a frequent speaker on cybersecurity, encryption laws, economics, and ISO certifications for cloud service providers.

Sára speaks with native proficiency and can simultaneously translate English, German, and Hungarian. She is fluent in Spanish and French and speaks elementary Japanese, Galician, and Italian.
