EXPERIENCE:

Dr. David Harburger is an associate in the Boston office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where his practice focuses on patent prosecution, strategic patent counseling, and intellectual property due diligence in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Having spent more than a decade conducting academic biomedical research, David has extensive familiarity with patent law issues specific to life sciences-based technologies, including biochemistry, bioenergy systems, cell signaling, diagnostics, genetics, immunology, medical devices, microbiome, synthetic biology, and large and small molecule therapeutics.

Prior to rejoining the firm in 2015, he worked for two years in a Silicon Valley-based patent litigation practice group as a patent agent and later as an associate, where he assisted in the preparation of notice letters, cease and desist letters, discovery requests, motions, briefs, and pleadings. From 2010 to 2011, he worked as a patent agent in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he filed numerous U.S. and international patent applications and successfully negotiated patent rights before the USPTO.

As a graduate student, David conducted biochemical research that investigated protein interactions required for the regulation of cell adhesion and migration. Prior to graduate school, he conducted research at Brigham & Women's Hospital and Yale University Medical School, where he helped design novel genetic assays for the detection of uterine cancer.
