Taite R. McDonald is a senior advisor with the government initiatives practice in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. She works with energy and clean technology companies to develop and execute strategies to access government grants, loans, and contracts across multiple states and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S Department of Agriculture, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Taite has been successful in helping companies obtain millions of dollars of funding and hundreds of millions of dollars in low-cost financing. She has also helped companies obtain multimillion-dollar procurement contracts and played a pivotal role in helping companies overcome gating obstacles and forge key partnerships with federal agencies and other government-facing bodies. In addition, Taite helps companies develop strategies to leverage public and private financing mechanisms to successfully commercialize innovative energy technologies and provides legislative insight in the areas of energy and clean technology.


Taite has extensive experience leading projects in biofuels, renewable chemicals, energy storage, grid integration, innovative materials, and solar energy technology. Select representative matters include:

  • Leading multiple project teams successfully through the DOE Loan Programs Office Advanced Fossil Energy and Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Programs
  • Leading project teams successfully through the USDA Section 9003 Advanced Biorefinery Assistance Program
  • Helping an advanced drop-in biofuels company secure $70 million under the Defense Production Act's Advanced Drop-In Biofuels Program
  • Advising multiple leading renewable energy project developers and financiers in qualifying for the U.S. Army's $7 billion Multiple Award Task Order Contract
  • Assisting a leading renewable energy developer in deploying the first long-term solar energy procurement project on a DoD installation
  • Advising multiple leading renewable energy developers in successfully pursuing contracts for DoD renewable energy procurement
  • Advising multiple innovative solar companies in obtaining over $5 million dollars in research grants from the DOE SunShot Initiatives
  • Assisting a renewable energy developer in obtaining $3 million from the Department of Navy and California Energy Commission to demonstrate a first-of-its-kind solar microgrid with energy storage
