The promotions will go into effect on February 1, 2010. Based in Palo Alto, Foster advises corporate and entrepreneurial clients on matters of corporate governance and finance, with a particular focus on the life sciences and clean energy sectors. He received his J.D. from Columbia University Law School in 1999. Jessica L. Margolis, Litigation. Based in New York, Margolis specializes in commercial and securities litigation. She received her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2000. Laura M. Merritt, Litigation. Based in Austin, Merritt advises technology and growth-company clients in both our Austin and Seattle offices on all areas of labor and employment law and represents them in litigation. She received her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994. Michael H. Rubin, Litigation. Based in Palo Alto, Rubin focuses on intellectual property and Internet-related litigation and counseling. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000. Seth C. Silber, Antitrust. Based in Washington, D.C., Silber specializes in antitrust counseling and litigation, with particular expertise in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, media, telecommunications, and energy. He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1997. David S. Thomas, Employee Benefits & Compensation. Based in Palo Alto, Thomas advises clients ranging from small businesses to multinational corporations on issues related to compensation and benefits. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1996. Karen K. Wong, Intellectual Property. Based in Palo Alto, Wong serves as IP counsel to numerous venture-backed companies, primarily in the life sciences and clean technology fields. She received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2002 and her Ph.D. in cellular and molecular physiology from Tufts University in 1997.
